Vera Murray
Eva's mother. Homo Magi — from a long line of Faroese hedge witches (Faroe Islands), a tradition distinct from and looked down upon by the Sidereal Council's formal hierarchy. Met Eric Murray by chance in a Cardiff coffee shop ~1987 while he was in his final year at Merriam Academy. They eloped, displacing Eric's arranged match with the Council's Archmage — an act that caused a lasting schism in Council politics. The Murray marriage begins to fracture ~2014–2015.
Biography
Vera comes from a long matrilineal tradition of Faroese hedge witches rooted in the Faroe Islands — a practice that predates the Sidereal Council's formal hierarchy and operates entirely outside its recognition. The Council considers hedge witchcraft a lesser tradition; Vera's lineage is the kind the Council's legacy families do not consider marriageable. Eric Murray disagreed. He abandoned an arranged political match with the Archmage of the Pacific Order of the Sidereal Council to elope with Vera. The Council did not take it quietly.
